The Movieplex in Johnstown, New York is owned by Riverfront Cinemas. The company also owns the Emerald Cinemas in nearby Amsterdam and the Madison Theatre in Albany, New York. Partners Bruce Wendell and Joseph Tesiero rescued the theater, the only one in Fulton County, out of foreclosure. Renaming the theater The Movieplex, they upgraded the property to nine screens. Sarah J. Lingerland, the mayor of Johnstown at the time, said the community was pleased by the reopening.
The new owners selected Sensible Cinema and Diamond Ticketing Systems, the parent company of online engine PrintTixUSA, to enhance the Movieplex POS and online software. With no annual licensing fees and charges for each terminal, both companies offer an affordable and reliable system.
